Preparation

In October 2016, a few weeks after finishing the deconstruction, I started with the preparations for the rebuild.
The preparation stage of the House Muschamp project was expected to take at least one year; if not two.
In this stage I wanted to (A) save up for a deposit for buying land, (B) develop a construction strategy for the rebuild and (C) prepare deconstructed materials for the rebuild. All is done part-time; like the Muschamps did.

Land for sale?

I like to settle in the Tasman / Marlborough region (Top of the South Island) and plan to rebuild House Muschamp there.
Leaving Christchurch and moving into the area now, offered me the opportunity to get to know the area better and allowed me to orientate on availability and options for buying land.

Engineering

It will not be possible to exactly rebuild house Muschamp as it was built originally.
The plan is to develop a rebuild strategy incorporating feasibility, heritage, structural strengthening, building physics and appropriate building services. I'm looking into options to apply base isolation.

Preparing materials for rebuild

Paint-stripping the ceilings requires research, and cleaning / preparing the Oamaru stones for rebuild will be done best on site (once there is a site)
