04 Predeconstruction
Preparing for deconstruction:
The three weeks between the agreement and the actual start of the deconstruction were used for documenting the House, trimming foliage and clearing the Outbuildings from rubbish.
I measured up the House and prepared drawings for mark ups of plans and elevations.
By giving every room a name, every piece of joinery a number, every wall a North, East, South or West orientation and every masonry coarse a letter, a basis was made for encoding construction elements.
Few little treasures were found in the piles of ruble that came out of the garage and the outbuilding.
Amongst these original (probably spare) keys to the house and a pencil portrait of the Lady of the house.
The house still had running water and I made a deal with the neighbors to get power on site.
Under the apple tree in the garden I pitched up my tent; I was going to camp on site and use all time available to me efficiently.
At work I was allowed to start at 06.00 in the morning and work till 15.00 in the afternoon.
The house was built in spare time (refer to 03) and now also was going to be deconstructed in spare time.
Friday morning the 15th of Januari 2016 a 20 ft container was delivered on site for storage.
Since this was going to be a reverse building process I started deconstruction the way any building process ends; with a beer or wine for neighbors, friends and colleagues that Friday evening.
