10 Mind-set and storage at West Melton

Deconstructing is a state of mind.
It means taking things apart with the awareness that they need to be put together again.
It also means that I got to really see how something is put together (and document that) before I can take it apart.
To see how it is put together often makes it easier to take it apart and reduces unnecessary damage.
I learned a lot by deconstructing House Muschamp; those builders knew their trade,

To what extend do things require to be taken apart?
While taking things apart I tend to directly assess possible wear, rot or borer damage and look at options for repair.
To what extend do items need to be restored?
To what extend are wear and damage part of the history?
I choose to put everything in storage for now and later worry about answers to the questions above.

At the right moment an opportunity occurred to arrange for storage.
Storage was found at a paddock in West Melton; about 15 km out of Christchurch.
The paddock is secluded; pallets and a 20ft container can be stored here.
The perfect spot would have had a paved surface but I'm happy with what I have got at West Melton.
