08 Earthquakes

In order to keep the house weather tight the next item to take out would be the chimneys.
However, brick chimneys often provide bracing.

At every step in the deconstruction and storage process I had to take into account that new earthquakes might occur.
With the heavy tiled roof still on, it was not an option to take out any possible bracing.
At later stages a lot of temporary bracing had been put in.

If weather tightness had to be broken, I preferred to proceed with taking out the exterior doors and windows before taking the roof tiles.

At a Sunday afternoon (14th of February) we experienced quite some sever shaking but luckily no damage was done to the partly deconstructed house and to already stored construction materials.
